In short: Network scans and scan results stay on your device and are not sent to the developer or Google. The free version of LANtern does, however, use Google AdMob to display ads. Google and its advertising partners may process technical device, usage and advertising data. LANtern Pro is ad-free.

LANtern locally processes information such as IP addresses, MAC addresses where available, hostnames, vendor identifiers, open ports, Wi-Fi information about the currently connected network, device names and notes you assign, saved scans and signal patterns.
This scan and network data is not used for advertising and is not transmitted to the developer, Google AdMob or advertising partners.
The free version uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) for banner ads and occasional interstitial ads. LANtern Pro does not request ads.
LANtern explicitly disables ad personalization for all AdMob requests and disables Google’s Publisher First-Party ID. The app does not request IDFA-based cross-app or cross-website advertising tracking.
When ads are requested or shown, Google may process data depending on consent, region, device configuration and the ad served. This can include IP address, device or advertising identifiers, diagnostics and performance data, advertising data such as ads viewed, and interactions with the app or ads. Google and participating advertising partners process this information under their own privacy terms.

LANtern uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to collect required consent and privacy choices, including where applicable in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Ads are requested only when UMP reports that ads may be requested under the current consent status.
If a privacy options entry point is required in your region, you can find “Manage ad privacy” under Settings → Privacy & Advertising.
LANtern currently does not request Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission and does not itself attempt to track you across apps or websites using Apple’s IDFA.
LANtern contacts Apple’s public itunes.apple.com endpoint to check for app updates. The built-in browser connects to network devices you choose to open. In the free version, internet connections to Google and advertising partners are also made for consent management and ad delivery.
LANtern Pro is an optional Apple in-app purchase. Apple processes payments; the developer receives no credit-card or payment details. Apple’s Privacy Policy also applies. Pro is ad-free.
LANtern is not specifically directed at children. The app does not independently classify users as children and minors should use it only in accordance with applicable rules and appropriate supervision.
You can delete locally stored LANtern scan data in the app or by uninstalling the app. For data Google processes in connection with advertising, applicable privacy rights and Google’s controls apply; where required, choices can also be changed through the app’s UMP privacy options.
LANtern may only be used on networks you own or have explicit permission to scan. Scanning networks without authorization may be unlawful. You are responsible for lawful use.
This policy may be updated when the app, included SDKs or legal requirements change. The current version is always available on this page.
